An opportunity to explain science simply and promote its popularization, but also a journey through creativity and technology, with extraordinary companions such as inventors, creatives, scientists, and, above all, makers, who will arrive in Trieste with technological attractions, experiments, and workshops. All this is the 'Trieste Maker Faire," the two-day event focusing on ingenuity scheduled for Sept. 2 and 3 in Piazza Unità d'Italia.
The initiative, presented yesterday and now in its 10th edition, is promoted by ICTP and the Municipality of Trieste, with the support of the FVG Region. More than 200 makers are expected from FVG and other regions, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.
Among the scheduled events is the Science Picnic, which is dedicated to interactive science with meetings with researchers, experiments, performances, and educational workshops.
On Sunday, the fair's guest speaker will be Massimo Banzi, co-founder of Arduino and "spiritual father" of Italian makers, discussing the future of technology and innovation.
The goal of the initiative, the promoters explain, is "to promote science popularization, to foster awareness of the importance of research as a growth factor for society by showing the impact of the work of makers and innovators on people's daily lives as well, to stimulate, especially in young people, interest in research and scientific careers, and bring science and creativity closer to the business."
