Ferries remained moored in Greek
ports, and transport workers disrupted the country's train
services following a 24-hour strike scheduled for today.
Greece's largest private sector union, GSEE, called the
mobilization to demand increased workers' wages, which the high
cost of living and inflation have increasingly challenged.
Moreover, according to the union, wages for Greek workers in
the sector are still lower than those of their European
colleagues. Bus drivers, taxi drivers, and workers from the
leftist union Pame also participated in the strike. Rallies will
take place at 11 a.m. local time in Syntagma Square and
surrounding squares in central Athens, Efsyn reported.
