(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 29 - Team Europe captain Luke Donald said
Friday's first day of the 44th Ryder Cup and the first to be
held in Italy, at the Marco Simone Course in Rome, had been
historic after his men ended up 6.5-1.5 ahead but added that he
wanted to make it a historic week too.
"It'0s an incredible start, a historic day, but we want it to be
a historic week. We started strong this morning (winning the
foursomes 4-0), then in the afternoon the USA fought hard, they
never gave up.
"The job isn't over, we'll get back on the course tomorrow
morning with the aim of winning more.
"The Ruder Cup is like a roller-coaster, full of highlights all
day.
"We're playing at home and the passion from the stands is really
strong, the lads weer watching the fans and they pushed them
even further". (ANSA).
