(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 22 - The Impact of the 44th biannual
European-American golfing classic clash the Ryder Cup, being
held in Italy for the first time next weekend, is already being
seen, Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri said at the presentation of a
tourist info point at Termini Station Friday.
"Anyone who wants a response to all those who said the Ryder Cup
would not take place (in Rome) because the work would not be
finished in time should come and see the course," he told
reporters.
"We often don't realise that the Ryder Cup is one of the most
important events in the world, in absolute terms, and the impact
on Rome is already being seen, with sold out hotels at the end
of September".
He added: "Rome shouldn't rest on the laurels of its great
beauty but work to bring other such events to the capital".
The 2023 44th Ryder Cup will take place at the Marco Simone Golf
& Country Club, at Guidonia Montecelio, just northeast of the
Italian capital, from September 29 to October 1. (ANSA).
