(ANSA) - TRIESTE, OCT 8 - The Italian government has adopted on Thursday evening a decree effectively returning the 'Narodni Dom' (National Hall) in Trieste to the Slovenian community living in the Italian city, the Slovenian news agency STA reported today, quoting information from the Italian Senator Tatjana Rojc and Primorski Dnevnik, the daily in Slovenian language published in Trieste. This "step that comes just over a year after the signing of a memorandum on the return of the symbolically important building," STA recalled. Primorski Dnevnik, quoted by STA, said that the Italian government issued a decree changing the Minority Protection Act to set the basis "for the gratuitous transfer of the building to the National Hall Foundation." "Historical evening," Rojc tweeted last night.
