(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 31 - A strong economic recovery is
projected for Romania in 2021, according to the latest forecast
of International Monetary Fund (IMF), included in the concluding
statement of a mission to the country. A 7 percent real GDP
rebound is projected for 2021, with Romania's economic pickup
appearing "to have been the fastest among the EU countries"
since the last quarter of last year. " Over the next five years,
absorption of large EU funds will be pivotal to Romania's
economic performance," the IMF noted.
The IMF stressed that downside risks to the outlook derive "from
unexpected adverse shifts in the evolution of the pandemic,
including possibly due to new virus strains, shorter vaccine
effectiveness, or unwillingness to vaccinate." (ANSA).
