Germany: CSU, deal with Greens and Fdp is a charming chance

We are ready for a "Jamaican" coalition

(ANSA-AFP) - BERLIN, OCT 1 - A change of tone occurred in the Bavarian CSU, which in recent days has again clashed with its Christian-democratic allies and in particular with the chancellor candidate Armin Laschet, defeated in the elections.

"Today, it was evident that we go in a positive spirit to the government talks. We are ready for a 'Jamaica' coalition (with Greens and Liberals). The Jamaica coalition has a chance to begin, and it also has charm," said the general secretary of the Bavarian CSU, Markus Blume, after the party's executive meeting, ahead of the exploratory talks scheduled for Sunday with the liberals and Tuesday with the greens.

In recent days the Bavarians, and in particular their leader Markus Soeder, have attacked the chancellor candidate Armin Laschet, responsible for having failed the electoral objective of the Union, which on Sunday suffered a big defeat, coming in second place after the SPD. However, Soeder himself was the first to clarify that the party had lost the elections and that the first negotiations with the Greens and Liberals would first be up to Olaf Scholz. (ANSA-AFP).
