Covid: Croatia, new restrictions, as infections increase

Concern especially over seaside resorts

22 July, 16:24
(ANSA) - ZAGABRIA, 22 LUG - In Croatia, Covid-19 infections' growth is starting to worry again, and it could also endanger the tourist season. For this reason, the government announced today they would introduce new restrictions from next week, along with stricter controls for public events in the Adriatic coastal resorts.

Since yesterday, there have been 179 new Covid cases, and the number of patients with active infection has risen to almost a thousand. That means a 20% increase weekly and 35% monthly. Most of the new cases were recorded along the coast, especially Dalmatia, where hundreds of thousands of foreign tourists are on vacation, but which is also the Croatian region with the lowest percentage of vaccinated population, 36% of grown-ups, compared to 47% nationwide with at least one vaccine dose.
