(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 25 - Italy's Molinari brothers and
national No.1 Guido Migliozzi are taking on golf's top names
including world number one Rory McIlroy at the Emirates GC di
Dubai this weekend.
Italy's only major winner, 40-year-old Francesco Molinari, is
hoping to go one better than he did when just failing to win
last week's Abu Dhabi championship.
His olrder brother Edoardo, 41, is gearing up for another
challenge ahead of this year's Ryder Cup in Rome where he will
be one of he vice captains to England's Luke Donald.
The Dubai classic is the second event of the Rolex Series on the
DP World Tour 2023.
It is another big chance for Turin-born Chicco Molinari and
Vicenza-born Migliozzi to advance their case for inclusion in
the Ryder Cup team for the event against Team USA at the 'Marco
Simone' golf club at Guidonia Montecelio outside Roma on
September 29-October 1.
The Dubai event, now in its 34th year, has a prize pot of nine
million dollars.
Northern Irishman McIlroy is bidding for his third win after
2009 and 2015 to equal South African Ernie Els' record.
Other previous winners include Severiano Ballesteros (1992),
Josè Maria Olazabal (1998) and Tiger Woods (2008). (ANSA).
