President Franco Chimenti said Wednesday that excitement was
already high in Italy for next year's Ryder Cup in Rome.
"I am the only one who should not be amazed by this event as I
have experienced many Ryder Cups," Chimenti told a conference on
the infrastructure work being done ahead of the competition.
"And yet, I am amazed because a major movement has come to life
in the wait for this event and that is how things should be.
"The tickets have sold out. There's excitement".
Sports Minister Andrea Abodi said the public works projects
"will be ready before the big event.
"The Ryder Cup is a important example of how mayor events can be
linked to infrastructure works that will remain in the city," he
added.
"The event is set to finish not just with a positive balance
sheet in financial terms, but also with a surplus for public
works given to the city". (ANSA).
