(ANSA) - DUBAI, 30 DIC - Airport operator Dubai Airports expects approximately two million passengers to pass through Dubai International Airport (DXB) between December 29, 2021 and January 8, 2022, with average daily traffic exceeding 178,000 travelers as visits to Expo Dubai 2020 surge despite COVID-19.
    According to reports from the Emirate agency WAM, January 2, 2022 will be the busiest day of the Christmas holidays, with over 198,000 passengers expected at the city's airport, the largest airport in the world for international passenger traffic.
    Dubai Airports also announced that only ticketed passengers will be able to access the terminals at Dubai International Airport during the current peak traveler period.
    Essa Al Shamsi, vice president of terminal operations at Dubai Airports, said this is an "important measure, given the situation with the pandemic and the high volume of passengers using the airport during the peak holiday season".
    Ten days ago, Dubai International Airport announced it was 100% operational for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020.
