(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 16 - The Italian research system has
presented itself to the world at Expo 2020 Dubai, showing how it
is ready for new international collaborations.
The Italy Pavilion at the World Fair played host to a forum
entitled "Italian Research Institutions facing global
challenges" as part of the Expo 2020 Knowledge and Learning
Week.
"People have realised how important research is because of the
pandemic," Universities and Research Minister Maria Cristina
Messa told the forum via a video link.
"Italy's research institutes have around 26,000 people working
in different fields.
"They are cornerstones that Italy can count on.
"With the arrival of the pandemic and its devastating effects in
Italy and Europe on the economic and social levels, Italy's
research institutions have shown that that are capable of
meeting the challenges, giving answers not just in scientific
terms, but also in terms of organization and coordination with
the productive world.
"It is no coincidence that the section of the NRRP (National
Recovery and Resilience Plan) on investments in research and
innovation is entitled 'From Research to Business'.
"Great importance is given not just to recruiting researchers
from all over the world and having an international approach to
research, but also to training professionals with innovative
abilities to facilitate the exchange of knowledge between the
research sector and industry, generating added value, including
economic value". (ANSA).
