(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 29 - An Italian woman called Anna who has
been suffering from multiple sclerosis since 2010 has been given
the green light to commit assisted suicide after 11 months of
waiting to hear from her local medical ethics committee, the
right-to-die Luca Coscioni Association said Friday.
She is the fifth Italian to have her wishes granted in this way
on the basis of a high court ruling, and the first person in the
northeastern Friuli region.
Anna, who will be able to take a deadly sedative administered by
health staff, said through the Coscioni Association: "I'm glad
to be able to free to choose and decided".
