A Rome judge on Monday indicted five
pushers on suspicion of supplying narcotics including the
so-called 'rape drug' to members of the 'Roma bene' or upper
middle class circles in the Italian capital.
Among those sent to trial was Danny Beccaria, 32, the alleged
ringleader of the gang of pushers.
The pushers, who were arrested in September, will go on trial
starting January 18.
The rape drug was delivered by couriers disguised as food
delivery riders to palazzi in Rome's historical centre during
last year's COVID lockdown, prosecutors said.
