The European Union and the United
Nations were celebrated at Expo Dubai 2020 this weekend with a
series of shows, discussion forums and institutional meetings,
as well as classical music concerts and dance events.
"It is more important than ever now to encourage mutual
collaboration. Working together we can create opportunities for
all," said the UN's deputy secretary-general, Amina J Mohammed,
on Expo's UN Day.
Margaritis Schinas, vice president of the European Commission,
said on EU Day: "We are happy that all 27 EU member States have
taken part in Expo in a significant way . "This is a sign that
humanity is returning to normal.
"Expo is a fantastic platform and the European Union, together
with the United Arab Emirates and all the Gulf region, have
common challenges to tackle together," Schinas went on.
The National Days are occasions Expo creates to celebrate each
of the more than 190 countries, plus organizations, that are
taking part in the event.
