Slovakia: Caputova in Berlin, 'much in common' with Germany

Steinmeier, her election proof hope 30 years ago still alive

21 August, 18:16
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUGUST 21 - The Slovak president Zuzana Caputova met her German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on Wednesday, the Slovak news agency Tasr reported. "Our countries have much in common," Caputova stressed, underlining that Bratislava and Berlin have a vision of a strong and united Europe and common serious concerns about a hard Brexit, problematic both for the EU and the United Kingdom, Tasr said. After the meeting the German president Steinmeier confirmed that Slovakia and Germany have never been closer in the past decades as today and he stressed that the election of Caputova represents the proof that the hope of 30 years ago, when the Berlin Wall fell, is still alive, the Slovak news agency added.

In the afternoon Caputova met Chancellor Angela Merkel. (ANSA).
