Bosnia to change Constitution and electoral law: CoE

Necessary to eliminate discrimination

08 December, 19:40

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, DEC 8 - Bosnia and Herzegovina must reform the Constitution and electoral law to remove the provisions that currently prevent people who are not affiliated with the constituent peoples or who do not meet a combination of the requirements of ethnic origin and place of residence from running for office in elections to the House of Peoples and the Presidency of the country from running for office, and thus discriminate against them. Bosnia has until April 15 to present its actions. This was stated by the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers in a resolution adopted after reviewing what the country had done following European Court of Human Rights' decisions. (ANSA).
