Slovenia: no congestions due to controls for Christmas

Interior Minister optimistic about checks on the borders

07 December, 10:09

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, DEC 6 - "So far, there have been no major traffic jams, and police have selectively conducted border checks on vehicles entering Slovenia from Croatia and Hungary. I believe it will remain so during the holidays," Slovenian Interior Minister Bostjan Poklukar said, according to the Slovenian news agency STA.
Slovenia implemented police checks on October 21 due to an increased terrorist threat, following Italy's decision to do the same at its border with Slovenia. Poklukar will propose to the government that border checks be extended until December 21, after which another six-month extension is expected, according to STA. (ANSA).
