Earthquakes: Croatia, aid from Gorizia Green Cross

Essential goods for the population hit by the earthquake

27 February, 12:11
(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 27 FEB - After the last tremor recorded on Wednesday in the Zagreb area, not far from Petrinja, the Gorizia Green Cross Gorizia has started a humanitarian collection of essential goods for the population hit by the earthquake. Two collection points: Gorizia and Udine. A Ceccarelli Group truck will take care of the transport to the logistics center in Zadar.

Also participating in the collection are Agesci Cormons (Gorizia), Time for Africa (Udine), the parish of Madonna della Misericordia in Campagnuzza (Gorizia), and the Community of Italians in Zadar/Zara. "The Gorizia Green Cross - explained Andrea Duca, one of the managers - has always tackled emergencies, and after the big earthquake that hit Croatia, we wondered how to help the local population concretely. So - he continued - through the association of Italians in Zadar, we tried to understand what the needs of people were now after the very first emergency. We have compiled a list of goods that can be collected and that, thanks to the generosity of Ceccarelli Group, we will be able to bring directly to the logistics center of Zara." At the moment, there is a need for tents, electric heaters, boots, inflatable mattresses, light torches, and batteries to power them, raincoats, and cookware. Don Fulvio Marcioni of the Madonna della Misericordia parish in the Campagnuzza district coordinates the Gorizia collection point; the other is located in Udine (via Romeo Battistig 48) and coordinated by the non-profit organization Time for Africa.

"An earthquake and the Friulian people know it better than others - explained the president of the Udine-based Ceccarelli group, Luca Ceccarelli - leaves an indelible mark that only time and solidarity can soothe if not rub off. For this reason, we have decided to do our part to support those hit by the earthquake in Croatia." (ANSA).
