Energy: Eastern countries, support for investment in gas

Eight states ask to consider it a source of transition

25 May, 13:54
(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, 25 MAG - Eight countries, mainly from Eastern Europe, have asked to support investments for infrastructure for natural gas and biomethane within the EU strategy for climate neutrality in 2050. In a document that was sent to the European Commission and the EU Council, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia emphasized that natural gas can be a source of 'transition' to abandon coal without final prices rising too high. By 2020, the EU's Executive should adopt the classification of 'green' investments (taxonomy), to promote those capable of contributing to the fight against climate change. (ANSA).
