Serbia: Fidesz MEPs against 'ideological' criticism
Text to be voted tomorrow 'unjustifiably critical' of Belgrade
24 March, 19:11The document, on which the plenary session will vote tomorrow, highlights the reforms that Belgrade should implement, aiming to continue its EU integration path.
However, the report is marked by "a decidedly one-sided and critical tone towards Serbia, ruled by the conservative right, due to the well-known rhetoric of the left-wing liberal majority", wrote the Hungarian party in a statement.
The text is "unjustifiably more critical and unbalanced" than in the past and "does not help the enlargement process and can hinder negotiations," the Hungarian MEPs added.
"Serbia - the statement reads - does not need ideological reports, but professional and financial support," therefore, the Fidesz parliamentary group in Parliament will vote against the report "as a sign of solidarity with Serbia." (ANSA).
