Greece urges EU to speed up on COVID 'passports'

To reopen to tourism

24 February, 13:20
(ANSA) - ROMA, 24 FEB - Greece has urged the European Union to move forward more quickly on the issue of 'vaccination passports' in order to reopen for tourism in time for summer holidays.

In an interview with the Financial Times published on Wednesday, Greek Tourism minister Harry Theocharis underscored that the introduction of a certificate attesting to an individual having been vaccinated should be a top priority for the EU.

Theocharis claimed that there was shortsightedness in the reaction seen from some EU nations to the idea of introducing a vaccination certificate.

He added that there is still a great deal to be done to prepare the bloc for reopening to tourism and that countries are focusing too much simply on the current situation without looking ahead.

He stressed that it should move more quickly. (ANSA).
