(ANSAmed) - BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 22 - After a stopover in
Kosovo yesterday, a US delegation was in Belgrade on Tuesday.
The delegation includes in particular top officials of the
International Finance and Development Corporation (DFC), an
important US fund of development hat has shown strong interest
for the support of infrastructural projects in both Kosovo and
Serbia as well as in the rest of the Balkan area. The mission to
the area was decided on the sidelines of the agreement on the
normalization of economic relations between Belgrade and
Pristina signed on September 4 at the White House with Donald
Trump. During the ceremony in Washington the DFC announced that
it was opening an office in Belgrade.
The mission of the US delegation was led by DFC top official
Adam Boehler and the special US envoy for Kosovo Richard
Grenell. Members of the US delegation also included
representatives of the US Export-Import Bank (Exim) and the US
departments for energy and trade. The governments of Pristina
and Belgrade expect much from the contribution of the DFC in
terms of new investments and economic and financial aid, with
the realization of important infrastructural projects to support
small and medium-sized firms, agriculture, energy and women
entrepreneurs. The DFC office in Belgrade is meant to help the
projects. The American delegation will meet in the afternoon
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Premier Ana Brnabic.
Talks are scheduled on Tuesday and Wednesday with the ministers
of finance, transport and infrastructure and with the top
officials of Serbia's chamber of commerce.
