All roads for the British gentleman led to Florence this week, where the 95th edition of leading international menswear trade fair Pitti Uomo is ongoing through Friday to showcase what will be next in the world of men's fashion.
Sleek silhouettes in velvet and tartan with a retro vibe are a style mainstay for fall-winter 2019-2020.
The country gentleman story-line is central to Gariele Pasini's collection, which includes tartan jackets and plaid shirts, capes and scarves for a total countryman look. Checks and hound's tooth also reign supreme in a palette of green, orange and blue.
Patches on jackets and cardigans complete the country look.
Tartan motifs also star at Manuel Ritz, albeit in a sportier version while Paoloni has embraced the blazer-cardigan in cashmere for next winter.
Luigi Bianchi Mantova has infused the classic sartorial look with a more contemporary vibe with deconstructed wardrobe staples that are light yet warm for the winter season.
The team of designers behind the historic Italian brand Made in Mantova (Mantua), founded in 1911, has selected deluxe cashmere, silk and cotton fabrics from Piedmont's Biella district in a palette of warm caramel, chocolate, beige and blue.
Overcoats are single or double-breasted and the trench coat plays the lead in the collection.
Lardini's collection is inspired by three key cities with their trademark color: blue for Milan, red for London and yellow for New York.
L.B.M.1911 has embraced both a more relaxed country style and an urban vibe with extra soft fabrics like velvet, the great protagonist of the next winter season, as well as wool and cotton mixes and cashmere.
Suits with a perfect fit reign supreme in the warm shades of fall - brick, mustard, chocolate, dark green, grey, blue and powder blue.
